Selena Quintanilla Perez (born Selena Quintanilla Quitanilla Perez) was a famous American musician. Her music was characterized by Texan style which brought her huge success. The singer was born on the 16th of April, 1971 at Lake Jackson Texas. Though Selena was born and raised to the United States and her first language was English her first language was English, she always performed in Spanish. Selena grew up in a happy and loving family with Hispanic heritage. Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, was also a musician, although the music he played did not get more recognition than his daughter. The father of Selena's mother Abraham Quintanilla was also an artist. But, he did not have the same recognition as his daughter. Selena began performing at the restaurants of her father alongside her brothers once her family discovered her talent. The group she formed along with the brothers became known under the moniker Selena as well as the Dinos. The children reached recognition after they recorded their first single in 1984, called My first recording.
